American Snapshots
Steven M. Johnson was born in the American
Heartland. Childhood homes include a few years in a
small Mississippi River town and a few more in a small
but burgeoning city on the High Plains. As an adult he
has lived in remote rural regions of Appalachia, the
Ozarks, the Rocky Mountains, the Sonoran Desert,
and Tuscany. He has also lived in Chicago, Denver,
and Tucson. His formal education includes cultural
anthropology, the arts, and urban design from both
public and private universities.
